Job Title: Events Sales Manager
Department: Sales and Events
Location: The Standard, High Line
Reporting to: Director of Sales and Events
Responsible for: N/A
Job Purpose: Meet and exceed established Event Sales goals. Maintain sales activities and relationships with new and existing accounts in an effort to grow market share
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- 2-3 years of experience in an Event/Group Sales or Event/Group Coordinator role
- New York City or similar market experience
- Knowledge in Opera, CVENT, Delphi, Allseated and/or Tripleseat software
- Understanding of RFP process and contract negotiations
- Clear understanding of meeting space optimization, pricing structures and menu planning
- Plan and execute load-ins, and working with external vendors, while adhering to internal procedures
- Comfortable entertaining clients and conducting site tours
- Understanding of the market, prospecting and lead generation
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emails and phone calls
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Desirable:
- Understanding of revenue management
- Creation of BEO’s and floorplans
- Understanding of Catering/Food & Beverage operations
- Multi-lingual, travel-experience, natural networker
- Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask between Events and Groups
- Adhere to weekly and monthly sales activities including; offsite appointments, site tours, networking events and
- prospecting
- Establishes strong relationships with the surrounding community and clientele through regular calls, visits,
- emails, etc. Qualify all calls and inquiries of the sales office.
- Input detailed profile notes in Tripleseat and Opera to develop SEV’s database
- Ability to maintain strong partnerships through effective communication
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients through; onsite/offsite entertainment and regular
- communication.
- Ability to identify need periods and suggest strategies and action plans to increase leads
- Oversee/audit Event commissions to ensure prompt payment – liaise with Finance Dept.
- Take ownership of all incoming Event requests (within assigned market) and communication with Revenue
- Management to provide clients with a response in 24hrs or less
- Coordinate client site inspections - effectively communicate to Front Office, Housekeeping and other parties

- Welcome VIP Clients upon arrival
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings: revenue meetings, BEO, group resume meetings, etc. as required
- Accurately communicates cost to clients. Reconcile client account prior to sending final bill.
- Ability to pivot and recommend programs to meet client’s needs
- Play and active role in weekly BEO meetings
- Maintain accurate availability and rates on guestrooms and function space
- Manage function space allocation for group and catering bookings based on established guidelines and
- procedures
- Liaise with Sales & Events Coordinator to produce Banquet Event Orders (BEO), Floor Plans, estimates and
- menus for both internal and external use
- Qualify and respond to Meeting and Event inquiries from all sources, including CVENT and MeetingBroker
- Ability to manage Event pre-con, day of setup and Event breakdown
- Effectively communicate Event details to all internal departments
- Oversee Event process from start to finish, ensuring clients satisfaction
- Manage all rental orders for events including external A/V and equipment
- Ongoing compset analysis of Rooms and Food & Beverage/Event offerings
- Support DOS on all administrative tasks related to the Sales department including; reporting, market analysis
- and monthly recaps
- Proof and Print banquet food signage, meeting room signage, beverage menus, specialty menus, etc.
- Work closely with F&B Management to create effective, cost-efficient schedules for assigned banquet staff
- based on forecast and budget.
