Blu Jemz: What are you working on right now?
Alison Valentine: I am working on homework right now. I have midi class in an hour! I am still in school at NYU.
What have you been listening to?
Disclosure, Public Enemy, Mariah, Kitty Pryde, the Hercules and Love Affair's Madonna remix, random Disco songs from the '70s and '80s.
Why are you always in Paris?
To drink champagne and kiss French boys, naturally.
What producers have you been working with?
I'm working on tracks for Moon Boots, Blood Diamonds, and these cute English boys, Just Kidding. I am also working on producing myself for my EP 'Swimming Pool Sounds', which will come out this summer.
Tell us about the EP.
So far it sounds like a 1980s little mermaid cassette. There are four songs, and they are all very special. On Saturday I'm going to sing the single 'Swimming Pool' so you will get a peek!
What event in your life had the largest influence on the direction of your music?
Actually, I think it was that time we were in Paris at DJ Mehdi's house and Leah (Mcsweeney) played one of my embarrassing Britney Spears pop song demos and you and Mehdi kept teasing me about it nonstop. Before that night, I thought I only wanted to write pop songs for other singers, but then I was like, "uffff, I am gonna show those boys and make something cool when I go home!" And the first song I recorded after Paris was 'Peanut Butter', which turned into my first single.

What do you love most about living in the West Village?
I have a secret garden where I grow all my flowers.
Why do you like Night People?
Le Bain is the best night club in the universe and you and Lloyd and Eli play the best house music you will ever hear in New York on a Saturday night. Plus I get school credit for being there since I'm the Night People 'intern'. It's definitely the most fun music internship. Everyone in my class is jealous! Love you guys!
