Barnt has been slowly bubbling up over the past year with his amazing tracks Chappell, Tunsten, and his ridiculous remix of CPI’s Proceso, but after dropping his debut album Magazine 13 we think he’s about to go next level.
We’ve really been loving what Weval has been doing, and this track off their Easier EP should give you an idea why. Melodic with hints of pop that sounds great in a club or at home.
London’s Kiwi has really been going from strength to strength recently, and this remix of Qtier on Bpitch Control keeps it going. His track Gerenuk on Duke Dumont’s Blast Boys Club label has been one of our (not so) secret weapons and a staple in our sets.
Another track that we’ve been playing a ton over the past month, and it goes off every time. Heretic is one half of the also awesome Eskimo Twins who never disappoint.
Willie Burns He Is Crazy Enough (Crème Organization x L.I.E.S.)
NYC’s Willie Burns is an extremely underrated producer as far as we’re concerned. That’s not just because we’re good buddies either! His music is pretty hard to classify and we love that. With various aliases such as Black Deer, Grackle, and Speculator, along with releases on L.I.E.S., Discos Capablanca, Crème, and more, we think more people will start to notice.
Josh and I have been playing KiNK tracks since the early days of FIXED, but over the past year KiNK really has been pumping out the JAMS and making some of the best music of his career. I just got a promo of this new one from KiNK, Fantasia, a few weeks ago and it's a MONSTER! Fantasia is set to be released on Pets Records in a few weeks and I think going to be the beginning of a very big year for KiNK.
If you're a FIXED regular you definitely know that John Talabot is one of our favorite dance music producers and DJs in the world. We've had him play live and we've had him DJ at FIXED many times. His DJ sets are some of the best I've ever heard in our 10 year history. John has a very unique sound that he truly has made his own and he carries that sound into his label Hivern Discs and this new release on his label from Round.
I play the shit out of tracks on Erol Alkan's record label Phantasy Sound. It is literally my favorite record label of the year (note the next track is on my favorite "new" record label of the year). I can honestly say I probably play every release they put out at FIXED and on my Making Time RaDio show on WXPN. This was Phantasy's last release of the year and it may have been the label's best release yet. It literally sounds like drugs, doesn't it? If this is any indication of what Phantasy has to come in 2015 then looks like it's going to be my favorite record label for two years in a row.
I wish this was called New Wake TRANCE but... oh well, it's not. It could have been part of my new GENRE ON THE RISE I created called "Just Enough Trance". That Ghost Culture track before this could possibly fit into that genre, eh? Regardless... this new Privacy track is a MONSTER and it's a perfect representation of the sound of Lobster Theremin which not only has the raddest logo of any record label out there but is hands down my favorite new record label of the past year. I have a feeling you'll be hearing a lot from Lobster Theremin in 2015 and you'll surely be hearing a lot of Lobster Theremin when Josh and I play at Le Bain!
If you've ever come out during the first hour of FIXED you might be surprised at what you'll hear. Josh and I will go an hour at times before we play a song with drums. We really put a lot of thought into warming up the room properly, and this Jefre Cantu-Ledesma track on Mexican Summer, one of best labels releasing this sound, is a perfect example of the sound we'll be warming up the room with this year. And it's the perfect example of what I listen to when I'm walking naked around my house.
