You’ve been making them all along without knowing their name–at least not the one we’re declaring. The dressing drink is an alcoholic beverage consumed while getting dressed for an evening out. Think of it as nudging the night into glory, one sip at a time. This calls for a proper drink, and don’t underestimate the mini-bar at offer. Here are a few quick and easy cocktails to make right from your room. (Of course Room Service is always happy to deliver a martini, if DIY isn’t quite your style.)
The Victorian - A proper British affair
1. Order Earl Grey tea from Room Service. Request tea sachet and lemon on the side
2. Place dry sachet into a highball glass, and add 1 mini bottle of gin
3. Gently stir until the color darkens
4. Remove teabag and add an equal part of apple juice
5. Pack the glass with ice and top with Sprite or club soda
6. Garnish with a lemon wedge
The Heisenberg Principle - A tongue-in-cheek mint julep
1. Crush 3 Altoids and place in a highball glass
2. Add 1 mini bottle of bourbon, stir briefly
3. Pack the glass with ice and top with Sprite or club soda
Dark, Stormy & Shipwrecked - A tropical version of a classic
The Standard, Miami
2. Equal parts coconut water
3. Top with ginger beer
1. Pack glass with ice, add: 1 mini bottle of rum
Standard Lemonade - Lemonade with a punch
1. Pack glass with ice, add:
1 mini bottle vodka
1/3 mini bottle of Grand Marnier
1 oz. lavender lemonade
3 oz. ginger beer
2. Garnish with 1 lemon wedge
Some Say She’s Retro - Minty, sweet, and fresh
1. Order mint tea from Room Service. Request tea sachet and lemon on the side
2. Place dry sachet into a highball glass, add 1 mini bottle of gin & equal parts sake
3. Gently stir until the color darkens. Remove teabag
4. Divide mixture between two highballs, empty a sugar packet into each one
5. Stir well, pack with ice, add a lemon garnish
6. Top with seltzer
