While the Tribeca Film Festival has the patina of an invite-only affair, with over 150 films playing at six theaters around the city, there are always plenty of shows with seats to spare. If you're a film buff, TFF screenings are also a great opportunity to stalk quiz your favorite indie actors and directors about their work in-person.
But How do I Get Tickets?
Check out TFF's 5 Ways to Purchase Tickets if you want to reserve in advance. Alternatively, you can "rush" a midday screening. Rushing involves lining up 30-60 minutes before showtime, but there are no guarantees in this, or in life. The festival runs from April 16 - 27, 2014.
Here are three films worth waiting in line for:
Dior et Moi
Follow Raf Simons's journey as he creates his first collection at Dior, bringing the emotions he felt for the brand in the '80s to today's high-stakes couture. Dior et Moi was written and directed by Frederic Tcheng, who edited the critically acclaimed fashion docs Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel and Valentino: The Last Emperor.
Love and Engineering
An awkward group of computer engineers in Helsinki try to crack the code of love. Directed by Tonislav Hristov, this romcom-esque romp explores the perils of forging lasting romantic bonds in the busy modern world.
Life Partner
Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) have been BFFs since forever. Some might even call them co-dependent. Everything is swell until Paige meets a guy named Tim and starts getting serious for the first time. Life Partners asks the eternal question: hoes before bros?
