Last week, audio-visual collective Faboo TV took over The Library Lounge at The Standard, London for a night of pride, pianos, and cocktails! The parade might have been cancelled this year, but we still celebrated in style with a sumptuous evening of cabaret and conversation.
Opening the night we heard DJ sets from FabooTV co-founder Josh Quinton, and an ambient set from Sippin' T, co-founder of BBZ, setting the mood for an evening of conversation, performance, culture and celebration. As the room started to fill the The Faboo Pride Piano Lounge began with live piano from NICKY, leading the crowd in singalongs of queer classics with their virtuosic piano accompaniment.
Art house icon David Hoyle spoke with Faboo TV’s Jeanie Crystal about the cultural moments that defined what Pride means to him.
Cut-out images of Faboo’s Pride heroes danced with placards, flowers and protest images, filling the space with colour and an important reminder of the activists that paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights.
The evening continued into the night with music from the classically trained hands of pierrot pianist Nick Harris, who with Jazz siren Eliza Rose, seduced us with a glittering array of pride anthems, including a rousing version of "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by Sylvester.
Amazonian femme fatale Casandra took us into Act Two with her musical prowess, then left it to Sippin’ T and Josh Quinton who kept the party going until the early hours.
