In 1999, original Roots member, Rahzel solidified his place in the hip hop pantheon with his interpretation of Aaliyah's If Your Girl Only Knew called If Your Mother Only Knew, where he simultaneously sang the lyrics and spit the beats. Shortly after, he was featured on Erykah Badu's Southern Girl. In 2004, he worked with Björk on her critically acclaimed album, Medúlla.
