Two weeks ago, songbird Jaz James kicked off her bi-weekly residency at mmhmmm at The Standard, Hollywood and thrilled the crowd with her sultry sound. Jaz's back up, Her Band, had the audience in the palms of their talented little hands, while LA-based poet Mike D and DJ Soft Touch helped to set the mood before her set. The club was packed, the drinks were flowing, and the jazz was smokin'!

Jaz James: Jaz James discovered Billie Holiday at age 12 and hasn’t looked back since. She honed her craft as a member of a French pop band in Paris and as a street musician rambling around Europe, but it wasn’t until she had her heart broken in 2009 that she really began to create her own music. She released her first EP and music video (produced and engineered by Scott Smith who also produced Grizzly Bear, Weezer, and Jose Gonzales) on her label, Playtime Recording, in the spring of this year. She can currently be found performing in and around Los Angles.
