Esma Sultan, The Boom Boom Room's 200 year old home for one night only
When my good friends over at Istanbul'74 in Istanbul, Turkey called me up to ask if we wanted to open The Boom Boom Room for one night only during the city's annual International Arts & Culture Festival, we said, "Open a pop-up club half way around the world in just under six days??? DONE!"
And that's just what we did...
Being that this was our first foray into international territory, opening during the festival was the right thing to do. We knew that most of our closest friends, including Cecilia Dean, James Kaliardos & Jorge Garcia of Visionaire, Carine Roitfeld, Chiara Clemente, Aaron Young and Nate Lowman were going to be there. We also knew that we would make a whole slew of new friends who have never had the chance to experience The Boom. So we took it to them. IstanBOOM was the word on the street this past weekend.
The view of Asia from The Boom Boom Room, Istanbul
While everyone was busy during the day attending panel discussions on art, design and culture, we were busy putting the final touches on our new home with dramatic views of Asia and the Bosphorus River. In addition to a sound system that could blow your Prada loafers right off your feet, we had 3000 gold balloons, 1000 The Standard, New York matchbooks, 10 bartenders and waitresses in Boom Boom Room uniforms, 5 specialty cocktails and 1 DJ Jamal...our Boom Boom mainstay who KILLED it with his sounds that night. That's what I call Stan D'elirious!
As the night began to wind down, guests were calling their cars in the front and their boats in the back to pick them up and whisk them away to wherever the night beckoned...although, I have to think that the only place they could manage to go after we were done with them was straight to bed.
Keep checking back in because we have a few more international moments up our sleeves, but in the meantime, visit our Gallery to see all of Billy Farrell Agency's photos from the night.
xoxo
