Deadly Friends (Trusty), from L.A. artist Patrick Lee’s sublime new show of photo-realistic graphite drawings of hard-luck dudes opening at the Ameringer McEnery Yoho gallery this Thursday, April 25th. Lee approaches his world-weary subjects on the streets of Southern California, photographs them for reference, then spends months painstakingly rendering their every tat, pore and scar. The resulting portraits are raw, unsettling and utterly mesmerizing.
