OK it’s not an elephant and it's not in a room. It’s a mastodon in our garden. Technically it’s an abstract neon light sculpture entitled Mastodon (2008) by post-minimalist Keith Sonnier. We partnered up with The Pace Gallery and installed it along with its friend Kgama (2007) in the lovely Standard Spa Gardens on the occasion of ... wait for it ... Art Basel Miami Beach. The sculptures are part of Sonnier's Herd Series, inspired in large part by the animals of the Serengenti.
It works out great because we prefer our wildlife in post-minimalist abstraction anyway.
