The year is 2010. Here's how it sounded at The Standard...
Goodbye noughties, hello tenties! In 2010 you were probably watching Inception or The Social Network in theaters while playing around on your brand new iPad. The world was rocked by Arab Spring protests and the devastating Haiti earthquake, while David Cameron formed a historic coalition government in the U.K. Wikileaks was leaking classified cables from the U.S. government and Spain claimed the World Cup.
Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” was a smash single and Kanye released his (first?) magnum opus, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. It was a banner year for social media as Facebook hit the 500 million user mark and Instagram made its big debut. Ai Weiwei’s Sunflower Seeds install at the Tate Modern featured millions of hand-painted porcelain seeds.
Meanwhile at The Standard, we were kicking off a new decade of good times.
