Chief Engineer
Job Purpose:
Chief Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering, Action a key role in supporting the efficient operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the hotel. Assist in leading a team of engineers and technicians, oversee maintenance activities, and contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing guest satisfaction and operational effectiveness to ensure that all repairs and preventive maintenance schedules are carried out according to schedule and utilize the provided software for tracking records with analysis without omitting the safety and comfort of the guests and employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Chief Engineer has the responsibility to conduct operations for exterior and interior facilities including electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, hot water system, air-conditioning, structural, ground landscape, parking areas, and other maintenance work necessary to determine that the assets of the Hotel are in optimum and efficient condition without omitting the safety and comfort of the guests and employees. To ensure that all repairs and preventive maintenance schedules are carried out according to schedule and utilize the provided software for tracking records with analysis.
- Maintain all distribution systems for electricity, water, steam, gas, etc.
- Maintain and operate HVAC - air conditioning, heater, ventilation, and refrigeration system.
- Maintain buildings and grounds with inspection and preventive maintenance reports.
- Ensure timely response to service requests by guests, employees, and management to repair or replace interior fixtures or furnishings.
- Implement an effective preventive maintenance program by professional engineering practices using the provided tools/software.
- Initiate and implement the program for energy management and maintain appropriate equipment operating logbook and utility consumption records.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Train and supervise subordinates and assist in technical training, safety, and emergency for team members according to the existing infrastructure
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area free of hazards.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Engineer.
- Checks and communicates with all the various section heads, and walkthroughs for maintenance planning and follow up with tracking records.
- Initiate the master program to prevent breakdowns, to maximize the life span of machinery and material of all equipment.
- Maintains a close working relationship with all departments especially Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B 14. Handles job orders promptly for the installation, repairs/maintenance of all operating equipment as raised by the respective department.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to procure supplies, schedule repairs, and oversee outsourced maintenance activities. Negotiate contracts, evaluate vendor performance, and ensure that services are delivered in accordance with agreed-upon standards and specifications.
Required skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 2 years of experience in a similar position and minimum 5 years in service industries
- Communicable English speaking, writing, and listening. Fluently in the primary language used in the workplace for sharp and clear communication with the team.
- Good personality, maturity, and ability to work under pressure with an emotional quotient
- Strong document-oriented, problem solver, people management with leadership skill
- Well organized and logic methodical on all process
