Like hundreds of millions of people every day, whenever we have a question — the capital of Turkmenistan, say, or Rihanna’s favorite ice cream — we plug it into Google. But when it comes to weightier matters, we like to get our answers straight from the source. So last Tuesday evening we convinced Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt and his co-author, Jared Cohen, director of the Google Ideas think tank, to sit for a rousing Q&A about their new book, The Digital Age: Reshaping the Future of People Nations and Business, at The Standard, High Line.
The latest event in our Standard Talks series saw moderator Sunny Bates in top form, fielding zingers from the audience and keeping both authors on their toes. From the future of government surveillance, to Chinese competition, to the way we’ll choose our kids’ names, it was an enlightening and spirited exchange. Watch it for yourself below, and don’t forget to pick up a copy!
