Known for creating the silicone Capricorn for FKA Twigs' latest album launch, Central Saint Martins graduate Yaz XL took over the ground-floor restaurant, Jara. For one night only, guests stepped into a world of underground mythical creatures with Yaz XL’ s translucent silicone mutation creations, sculptures and fashion, against the backdrop of a live DJ. It was a memorable evening of weird, wonderful and unusual scenes.
Centered around an apocalyptic shore and depicting the grungy seahorse birth scene, the Jara restaurant was draped in nuclearesque glowing water features, a curling throne resembling the remnants of past life, deep sea wonders and overspill with mutated creatures.
The evening's a la carte menu displayed the usual offering with some terrifying additions including Black Rice of Cuttlefish with Black Garlic Aioli; Sea Urchin with Foam Hollandaise and Caviar; Black Pasta with Bottarga and Ikura, the Kiss of Death dessert with Red Fruits and Gold Leaf, and a colour-changing cocktail.
