The Standard Interview

A Standard Sleepover with Klaudia & Lara

Meet Klaudia & Lara, two best friends who took the Eurostar to London for an urban staycation at The Standard, London. Their weekend consisted of baths on the terrace, dinners in Decimo, and laughs down the corridors of the 7th floor. We caught up with Klaudia & Lara to chat about their city sleepover, scroll to find out more of what a weekend at The Standard, London can look like for you.

What was your favourite thing that you ate in London?

Lara: We went to Canteen, a super charming restaurant that was serving fresh and handmade pasta, their menu changes everyday. Lots of fresh and regional options.

Klaudia: Dinner at Decimo.

Choose 3 songs to soundtrack your London weekend.

Lara:

1 : Lana del Rey - “Ultraviolence"

Perfect for a late-night walk through London's quieter, more atmospheric streets, the song could provide a unique soundtrack. Perfect for having long and deep conversations.

 2. Taylor Swift - “So Long, London”

The song has a fun, carefree vibe that fits well with the excitement of exploring a new city. It captures that feeling of saying goodbye to a place you've enjoyed, but it's not too heavy or emotional-it's more about the thrill and the adventure.

 3. Arctic Monkeys - "Do I Wanna Know?"

Klaudia: One word: BRAT. The entire album.

A modern, gritty track that channels the cool, underground vibe of London's music scene.

What's one thing that makes a hotel a home away from home?

Lara: Personalised, attentive service. When hotel staff go the extra mile to make guests feel welcomed and comfortable—remembering their preferences, offering local recommendations, or providing thoughtful amenities—it creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that mirrors the comfort of being at home.

Klaudia: Definitely a comfy bed and bathrobe.

What's one fashion "don't" that somehow becomes a "do" whilst you're on holiday?

Lara: Trying new and different styles - everyone has this thought when trying something new in their hometown: 'Oh my God, can I really wear this? Is it a bit too much or too different from my usual style?' On holiday, I feel more free and comfortable trying out new styles.

Klaudia: Wearing cheap touristy clothes you buy at a souvenir store...guilty pleasure.

What's the weirdest thing you can't travel without?

Lara: A pillowcase from home.

Klaudia: My got2b glued hairspray, people with a fringe understand.

If you could steal any Londoner's wardrobe for a week, whose would it be?

Lara: Definitely Princess Diana. If I had to choose someone alive, it would be @_olhirst! I love her unique pieces combined with basic pieces.

Klaudia: Charli XCX.
