We chat with two busy New Yorkers, Katie Longmyer and Jules Kim, before they return on Le Bain's rooftop for their Select Summer Friday weekly sunset party, starting Friday, May 26th.
LE BAIN: We're so excited to have you back for a new season of sunset parties. What has been the biggest change in NYC since last time we spoke?
KATIE LONGMYER: I’ve seen independent music projects get a lot of deserved attention and success, including Lloydski’s pop-up record store, The Lot Radio, and beautiful warehouse parties that incorporate art, music and community.
JULES KIM: I see an artist renewal happening around the city. I attribute the productivity of independent thinkers to our political and socio-economic times. When we, as artists, feel tension, we must communicate that honestly in our work.

Katie, what’s your musical coup de foudre for the summer to come?
Stretch and Bob are back on the radio (NPR)!
Jules, your fashion coup-de-coeur?
I am dying for a pair of Ferragamos...I'll wear them everyday, I promise!
Could you introduce us to the designer who curates your 2017 artworks?
Mogollon is a dynamic Brooklyn-based duo who I have worked with previously on a video for one of their activations in Japan, supported by Diesel. Francisco and Monica are true inspirations. They develop ideas from a primal place and have a very identifiable art style with organic shapes and custom typography. I am excited to be working with them again!

What kind of sound are you into for this new season?
JULES: I recall Joakim’s set last year and the overwhelming sunset of that Friday night. It was a spectacle of amazing tunes and breaking views… I look forward to these Fridays all year.
KATIE: For sure you can expect Justin Miller (Have A Killer Time), Falty DL, FSQ (Soul Clap Records), Danilo Braca (TSoNYC/Busted), and more to be announced very soon!
