Lisbon
Overview
Coming 2026
The Standard, Lisbon marks The Standard’s long anticipated arrival in one of Europe’s most charismatic capitals. Located at Palácio Santa Clara, the hotel rises above the colorful alleyways of Alfama—Lisbon’s most picturesque neighborhood—offering front-row views of the Tagus river. The building’s past is long and layered, beginning as the College of St. Francis Xavier before serving as the Portuguese Royal Navy Hospital for more than two centuries. That history hasn’t been erased, but reimagined through its interiors. Led by Jaime Hayon, the design introduces colour, tactility and play, set within architecture by Samuel Torres de Carvalho that preserves what endures while allowing the building to shift in tone and purpose.
Across 170 guestrooms and 24 long‑stay apartments, the hotel unfolds at a measured pace. An all‑day dining restaurant with three terraces anchors the ground floor alongside a bar lounge tucked into a former pharmacy storeroom and a street‑facing café. Overlooking the Santa Apolónia train station, the pool and spa offer retreat, while the rooftop bar opens to panoramic views over the river and city.
Rooted in Alfama and unmistakably itself, The Standard, Lisbon blends neighbourhood life with an urban escape, in a way only The Standard can.
