Standard Talks: Here & Now: On Creativity, Queerness & Representation
Do individuals from the LGBTQ+ community face similar challenges launching, sustaining, or scaling an independent project? Should raising awareness of these challenges be part of the project’s DNA? Can this commitment become burdensome? This panel aims to address these and other questions. This conversation will feature perspectives from Be Oakley (Genderfail), Gustavo García-Villa, and Jorge de la Garza (Casa Bosques Art Books).

Book Launch of Gustavo García-Villa's "ANIMAS"
Instagram sensation Gustavo García-Villa, aka @lamasdolorosa, has compiled a new series that blends portraiture, handcrafted masks (made by García himself), remote landscapes and his renowned provocative nudes. Signed prints and a specially designed publication will be released in limited quantities and are anticipated to quickly sell out.

Cassandro is a biographical drama film (2023) of gay wrestler Saúl Armendáriz (played by Gabriel García Bernal) who lives in El Paso, Texas, Armendáriz confronts and untangles different elements of his sexuality and identity while making a reputation for himself within the lucha libre world.

Join us for an afternoon of Yola’s mezcal paired with an assortment of Casa Bosques Chocolates while browsing Jack Pierson’s numerous publications. In his photographic work, books and zines Pierson explores desire, identity, and nostalgia, drawing from popular culture and the LGBTQ+ experience. This will be an opportunity to engage in a lively conversation while savoring chocolate and mezcal pairings.
