You know the feeling when the restaurant you really, really love suddenly goes away, and all you can do is think, “Whyyyyyyy?!” Bereft, you're left with lingering questions, daydreams, and a longing for dishes that will only live on in your memory. Well, sometimes there’s hope.
Such is the case with Alma, the beloved LA restaurant that opened as a pop-up in downtown LA and enjoyed a storied three-year run before closing in late September. This week, Alma re-opens for an exclusive 3-month stand at The Standard, Hollywood, and we couldn’t be more thrilled—especially because we get to eat some of our all-time favorite dishes again, in the comfort of our very own restaurant.
The creation of Chef Ari Taymor and Creative Partner Ashleigh Parsons, Alma garnered major praise in a short period of time, including “Best New Restaurant in America” by Bon Appetit, the #12 spot on Jonathan Gold’s 101 best restaurants list, and the “Best New Chef” title for Taymor by Food & Wine. More important, Alma won over the hearts and taste buds of LA’s gourmands, and brought fresh life to the food scene.
At The Standard, Hollywood, Taymor has unveiled a new à la carte menu, giving diners the chance to explore his delicately crafted dishes (fear not: the favorites are still there) and his nuanced use of flavors in the intimate setting of our 24/7 restaurant space. The menu is inspired by the landscape and terroir of Southern California, with ingredients sourced from local farmers. The same attention to detail is seen in the remarkable desserts, as well as the wine and cocktail lists.
See you in the restaurant!
