Your Role
As an Events Manager, at The Standard, London you will become part of our inhouse sales & events team. Working in partnership with our Director of Events, you’ll be one of our guests’ very first points of contact, responsible for handling a range of Event enquiries including bookings over the telephone, over email or via one of online booking partners. In addition to bookings in our private event spaces, guests will also be able to book our outlets, and suites for exclusive private party use from dinners & cocktail parties to small fashion shows and press junkets, as well as plan and oversee large group bookings for VIP clients from a rooms perspective.
With overall responsibility for planning Special Events, parties and functions you’ll provide an important link between the sales and operations teams and will undertake a range of event coordination duties Including communicating special requests, dietary need and table plans in conjunction with our Restaurant teams. You’ll also work closely with our Restaurant managers in order to plan and manage private events in our restaurant spaces to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in order to deliver a seamless and effortless level of service.
You will have a natural affinity for our unique brand and hospitality and will be able to connect instantly with our guests in order to understand and accurately capture our guests’ requests, providing information on our restaurants, menu options and group bookings to identify future selling opportunities and any unexpressed wishes. You will help create a dining experience where you will not only delight our guests, but also excite and surprise them to create the ultimate guest experience in London; that is anything but Standard!
This is not a ‘Standard’ Events Manager role so you will need to have serious stamina and passion, be highly social, upbeat, and friendly; confident and handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a wider senior management team.
Do you have what it takes to be a Events Manager at The Standard, London
Prior experience as an Event Manager is essential; although we stress we are not looking for a traditional Meeting organiser; you will have however an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests that enable us to not only pre-empt needs but foresee desires.
In addition to this you will also need….
- Prior experience as an Events Manager or Executive with the ability to engage and connect with a wide range of guests from different backgrounds, ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ or boutique Restaurant or hotel sector
- Candidates should have a background in selling and planning Social Events and Parties
- Highly social, motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions You will also need to be highly organised with great attention to detail, with a natural ability for sales
- Prior experience using envision is an advantageous however full training will be given
- Fluency in English is essential for this role, in addition to those speaking a second or third languages
- You will need to have a flexible approach to working hours with the ability to work shifts, including occasional weekend cover.
